This talk will focus on some work done in the NCAR Turbulence Numerics Team on investigating the use of high-order adaptive methods on problems of interest to the turbulence community. This capability is encapsulated within the framework of the Geophysics and Astrophysics Spectral-element Adaptive Refinement (GASpAR) simulation code, and fundamentals of this code will be discussed. Important issues regarding the use of this code for incompressible turbulence computations and applications will be addressed.
